Obituary of Mimi Atkins

     Margaret Mary “Mimi” Atkins born February 29, 1948, passed away on March 23, 2024, at the age of 76 but a Leap Year Age of 19. She had always loved being a Leap Year baby.

    Mimi was raised in Quincy, California, graduating from Quincy Junior-Senior High School in 1966. Moving to Chico , she attended California State University, Chico, graduating in 1972 with a degree in Office Administration. Over the years, she served as Office Manager for law firms, schools and Our Divine Savior Catholic Church. In Retirement, Mimi enjoyed volunteering at the church and the Chico Branch of the Butte County Library.

   The great adventure of Mimi’s life was working for a hospital in Saudi Arabia for just over two years. During this time, during vacations, she was able to visit some very interesting places in Saudi Arabia, as well as, taking a photo safari in Kenya, visiting Cyprus, Amsterdam, London and Bath, England. Her mother joined her for her most memorable vacation of all, a trip to southern Germany to visit her Grandfather’s family’s homestead and visit with all the relatives still living there.

   Mimi had many friends that all brought her great joy over the years,as did her love for gardening.

   Mimi was preceded in death by her parents, Julian Atkins and Margaret Atkins Clark and by her beloved nephew Michael Atkins. She is survived by her brother Bob Atkins and his wife Nancy DeVillers of Sebastopol; her brother Charlie Atkins and his wife Debbie of Chico; her sister Chloe Atkins and her wife Erin Flynn of Oakland; her niece Amy Atkins; Michael’s widow, Kirsten Ingebretsen, as well as  her great-nieces and great-nephews Harper, Cole, Ryland and Simon Atkins, all of Durham, North Carolina

  Her Rosary will held on Monday, April 22 from 5 to 8 PM with Rosary to be read at 6 pm at Brusie Funeral Home 

  Her Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 23 at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church at 10:30 AM.

  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Our Divine Savior’s  Religious Education Program, or the Chico Friends of the Library.
