Obituary of Annis Gail DeGroat

Annis Gail DeGroat,76 of Gilbert Arizona passed away on December 8th, 2023.

Gail was born on November 7, 1947, to Alfred and Betty Walls in Chickasaw, Oklahoma.

Although, born in Oklahoma, Gail spent most of her life in California. Much of her youth was spent growing up in Fresno and she spent 20 plus years in Lake Tahoe raising her family.

She graduated from Camden High School in San Jose, California and later took courses at Fresno City College and Lake Tahoe Community College, with a concentration in accounting.

Gail met William “Bill” DeGroat in Paradise California and they were wed on October 17, 1969. They had 2 children, Danielle Lynn born October 31, 1970, and William Scott born December 27, 1974.

In Lake Tahoe Gail worked as a bank teller and as a dealer at Sahara hotel casino. She eventually moved to Reno, Nevada and began working at America West Airlines and then to AZ, where she eventually retired from American Airlines.

After she retired, she moved to the country of Panama for a few years then back to the states where she worked for the US Census Bureau. She started making jewelry which became her biggest hobby and passion. Her other passions were the Dallas cowboys, Chicago cubs and collecting anything with Santa Clause on it.

Gail was predeceased by her Father Alfred Isaac Walls, her Mother Betty Jo Miles, Brothers Alfred Dwayne Walls and Andrew Paul Miles. She is survived by her Brothers David Walls and Steven Walls, Her children Danielle Wahl, and Scott DeGroat, her grandchildren Shawn Richard McDaniel JR and Krystalle Ann McDaniel, and her 5 great grandchildren; Shawn Richard McDaniel III, Mason Lee McDaniel, Olivia Paige Marie McDaniel, Logan William McDaniel and Kalliope Moira-Gael McDaniel. She is also survived by her Stepfather Noman Miles stepbrother Rodney Miles stepsisters Joyce, Denise, Cindy, Michelle and Sharilyn.
