Obituary of Gloria Mae Hogg

Gloria Mae Hogg, 87, of Chico, CA died peacefully in her sleep February 7, 2022. Gloria was born October 26, 1934 and lived in Chico for about 70 years. For more than thirty years she worked primarily as a medical office manager first in orthopedics and then in neurology. In her retired years she volunteered for Butte County Foster Grandparents. Her favorite job was caring for her grandchildren. 

Gloria loved to travel, bake, and spend time with her family and friends. Her personality was large and her laugh was even bigger. Those who knew her best will reflect and remember her sense of humor and her beautiful playful orneriness. Oh and competitive…She never missed a sporting event that her children or her grandchildren participated in. She loved the 49ers football team, but was a number one fan of Aaron Rogers.

Gloria did not have an abundance, but what she did have she shared with everyone close. She loved to cook for others and make sure that they never left her home hungry. She was a second mother to so many. The people in her life mattered the most. Throughout her entire life her friends were her chosen family. In her last years, the staff at Chico Windsor Care Center were loved additions to her already humungous “family”.

Without a doubt Gloria approached life with a fierce energy. She never let fear stop her from beginning her own wedding business or running for Chico City Council. Winning at Bingo or Skippo gave her joy right up to the last days on earth. She is singing and dancing now. She is leaving behind a legacy of love. Her two children, their spouses, and five grandchildren will carry the memories of her forward in their own life journeys. She will forever be ALWAYS!
