Jan. 18, 1949 - Aug. 19, 2012 Irene Brinson quietly passed away on Aug. 19, 2012, at a local nursing home, after months of battling respiratory disease. She was 63 years old. Irene was born in Chico, raised in Durham and attended all of the Durham schools, graduating in 1967 from Durham High School. She had been a student at Butte College and Heald Business School of Sacramento. Her first job was in her mother's "Zoom Room" in Durham, then as a receptionist at Butte Answering Service in Chico, and then at Orchard Lanes. Over the years she worked out of the area in San Francisco, Reno and Ukiah. She returned to Durham to help care for her father. Irene was preceded in death by her father, Dwight (1985), and her brother, Bruce (2005). Irene is survived by her mother, Ruth Brinson of Durham; brother, Jim and wife, Andy Brinson of Durham; by her niece, Amber and husband, Travis Hayes of Durham; nephew, Eddie Brinson; niece, Nancy Dominquez; grand-niece, Karlee Brinson and numerous cousins. Irene is also survived by the love of her life, Bill Mosier, with whom she lived for the past 22 years, first in Corning and most recently in Los Molinos. Her step-children include: Stephen and wife, Lisa Mosier of Magalia, Patrick and wife, Heather Mosier of Nevada, Mark and wife, Christie Mosier of Corning, Marty and wife, Debbie Marvel of Georgia, Pam Marvel of Texas; 12 step-grandchildren; and 5 step-great-grandchildren. Irene is also survived by good friends, Karen Jones of Orland, Maryanne Himenes of Los Molinos, and her BFF for 42 years, Patricia Suter of Sacramento. Irene loved her trips with her BFF to Disneyland, Lake Tahoe and the Sierras, the coast, SF, and an Alaskan road trip ending on a cruise thru the inside passage to Vancouver. Irene always had a beautiful smile for everyone she knew, with a happy twinkle in her eyes. She loved her many dogs and cats over the years, most recently her "Soome II". Family wants to thank all of her caregivers, both at Enloe and at Windsor Chico Creek Care Center. The staff of both were very caring, always saying hello to Irene in their passing and she always had a big smile for anyone who would spend time with her. Even in her last days, as she was wheeled to the rehab room, she did "The Wave" to all who passed her, with a big grin and that twinkle in her eyes. The rehab therapists at Windsor Chico Creek worked with Irene daily with caring and emphathy in the hopes Irene could return to her home, to Bill, and her "Soome". Arrangements made thru Brusie Funeral Home and Chico Cemetery. No Memorial Services are planned at this time. Family suggests that any memorances be made in Irene's name to the Durham Memorial Hall Fund, or Durham Community Education Fund, PO Box 454, Durham, CA 95938 or a charity of your choice .
