Obituary of Kathleen Cox

A Memorial Gathering will take place for Kathleen Winter Cox, 86 of Chico, on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brusie Funeral Home. Kathleen passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at her home. She was born January 30, 1925 to Bert and Edith Winter in Iowa. Kathleen graduated from North High in Sioux City, IA. She received a BA from UC Riverside and a MA in Anthropology from CSU Chico. Kathleen was an Ashtanga Yoga Master and studied under Nancy Wiegman. Her survivors include three daughters, Lisa Cox of Chico, Linda Johnson of Crescent City and Lana Gonzalez of Biggs; one son, Joe Cox of Paradise; two brothers, George Winter of TX and Jim Winter of Valencia; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Cox in 1982; two sons, John and Jeff Cox; brother, John Winter and sister, Jane Schultz. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Butte Humane Society, in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
