Obituary of James Watts

James Robert Watts, 72, a beloved husband, father, mentor and friend, passed away on November 9, 2011, in Chico, where he had lived for over six decades. Jim was born April 19, 1939 in San Francisco and is survived by his three children, Dara, Aileen and Rex, son and daughter-in-law, William Taylor and Ashley Gagon; his granddaughters, Emilee and Baylee Taylor, and his two brothers, Richard and Robert Watts. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita Merle Wilson; two sons, David and Kirk and his grandson, William Taylor. Jim served for two years in the Navy Medical Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton. Then following the completion of a doctoral degree in Chiropractic medicine, Jim and his family made the decision to return to Chico, where he took over his father's business, Watts Plumbing, one of the oldest plumbing companies in the Northern California area. Jim was a faithful, life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving a full time mission in Upstate New York, as Bishop of Chico 1st Ward and in various other leadership positions. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home.
