Obituary of Frank Bennett

A memorial service will be held for Frank George Bennett, 92 of Chico, on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Brusie Funeral Home. Frank passed away on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010. He was born April 3, 1918 in Standish, CA. Frank was raised in the Susanville area. In 1939 he married Marion Springer in San Francisco. He graduated from Chico State in 1940 and taught school in Linda for about one year. Frank joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in Italy and France as a combat pilot in the 320th Bomb Group of the 42nd Bomber Wing. After WWII he attended UC San Francisco, where he received his DDS and practiced Dentistry in Milbrae, Burlingame and Chico. Throughout his life, Frank enjoyed ranching and was past President of the California Hereford Association. He was also active politically, serving on the board of Chico Unified School Disttrict and the Butte County Planning Commission. One of his hobbies was endurance riding, of which he was the mileage champion at the American Endurance Riding Conference in 1984. His survivors include his wife of 71 years, Marion Bennett of Chico; three sons, Henry of Davis, James of El Cerrito and Frank of Tokyo, Japan; one daughter, Marilyn Pulliam of Brush Prairie, WA; sister, Betty Schulz of Nevada; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Donations may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
