Obituary of Earl Allen

Earle D. Allen, 101, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Windchime of Chico where he had been living since June of 2007. Earle was born in St. Marys, Kansas August 25, 1907, one of eight children. He married Electa (Pat) Riggs in Hutchinson, KS in 1933 and they had one son, Robert E. Allen. During the depression they moved to Denver, Colorado where he resided until his 100th birthday, when he requested to be moved to Chico where his son, Dr. Robert E. Allen had lived since 1958 when he joined his uncle at the Erickson Veterinary Hospital. Robert Erickson married Lana Allen when he was attending Kansas State University to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medical degree. Earle will be buried next to his wife, Pat Allen, who passed away in 2007 and near his sister, Lana, Robert, Barbara and Kathy Erickson. Earle is survived by one sister, Marjorie Rawson of Topeka, KS; son, Robert Allen and his wife Vonnie of Fresno; four grandchildren, Bradley Allen of Chico, Patrick Allen of Austin, TX, Megan A. Wilson of Petaluma and Valeria A. Coughlin of Novato; local nephews and niece, Bonnie and Wayne Erickson of Chico, David Erickson of Red Bluff; and seven great- grandchildren, Courtney Coughlin of Honolulu, Olivia Coughlin of Ft. Collins, CO, Caroline Coughlin of Novato, Stephanie Allen, Thomas Allen and Eric Allen of Chico and Spencer Wilson of Petaluma. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway in Chico, with internment to follow at Glen Oaks. Father Richard Yale of St. Johns Episcopal Church will preside. In lieu of flowers, any contributions are asked to be sent to the Maple Hill Cemetery Association, 33645 Vera Road, Maple Hill, KS, 66507.
