Obituary of Richard Moreland

Richard (Dick) Moreland, 92, passed away on November 21, 2013. He was born on June 14, 1921 to Eugene and Pauline Moreland in Pasadena, Calif. Richard was raised in Pasadena where he attended school and later entered the Navy as a Seabee at the start of World War II. He fought in the South Pacific against the Japanese building air strips and bases for the Marines. During the war he married his beloved wife, Virginia Richards, also of Pasadena on May 21, 1944. Richard worked as a captain for the San Morino Fire Dept. for 10 years, before retiring from a fire accident. He and Virginia moved to Paradise in 1968 and he worked many jobs in the North State, but none so fulfilling as his street rod and boat building years. He loved to wheel and deal just about anything. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He liked to hunt, fish and build street rods. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, fireman son Richard (Rick) Moreland, his brothers Gene, Paul, and sister Martha Hammersen. He is survived by his son Steven (Carol) Moreland, grandsons Tyler (Carina) Moreland, Jeff Moreland and granddaughter Gwendolyn, great-grand-son Gavin Moreland and many nieces and nephews that he deeply loved. He and his beloved wife Ginny will be forever missed. The family would like to thank The Courtyard at Little Chico Creek and Enloe Hospice Care for magnificent care. A private gravesite memorial will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Enloe Hospice Care. Condolences can be sent to Steve and Carol Moreland at stevem1948@att.net
